I apologize once again (for the millionth time) for not writing in so long. Anyway, we're in the midst of regrouping for whatever we'll do next. We're just as busy as we were before, but we're just not out on the road at the moment. I'm trying to figure out how to write music -- I have it in me, but it's just hard to get something I'm satisfied with down. I guarantee there'll be a few new songs from Mister Michael Skippy Yudichak on the next album (that's more of a promise I'm making to myself). I broke out my sax the other day as well and it felt good to play again... it's been far too long since I've even practiced. I played Amazing Grace from memory, a little Bach, and then several songs from a 50s and 60s Rock & Roll sheet music book. My mouth started to hurt, so I had to stop. Good times though.

I hope you have plenty of time... there's like five entries this time aroung. Enjoy!

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

Well I didn’t have the Cuban sandwich at the Rhumbline in Gloucester (that’s the one with the pork and ham and nice roll), but I did manage to stuff myself silly with the foods the Gloucester people had to offer. Captain Mark and Carolyn invited us over for dinner for some fresh haddock – caught earlier that day… along with fresh green beans and movie theater popcorn. The next day we went to Mark’s mother’s surprise party at an Italian restaurant and enjoyed what the catered feast. Thanks goes out to Dennis for helping us and doing a great job in our time of need… and thanks for hooking us up at the Blue Marlin. The steak tips and chowder were perfect! I hope I’m getting everyone that’s reading this hungry… maybe cause I’m hungry again. Damn hunger.

It’s been a week since my last confession (aka Skippy’s journal entry). Holy smokes, fall is really here. I thought summer was going to last forever – the summer of ’95. I can safely say it was the best of times and it the worst of times. We’re heading back to the coast for a revisit to Gloucester Massachusetts and I’m hoping to have some chowder and one of those sandwiches the Rhumbline has… with roasted pork and ham on a nice fresh crispy roll. I know they have a specific name for it… I’ll let you know when we get there. I sure love food.

We’re traveling back from Philly and listening to Mr. Zimmerman’s ‘Hard Rain’ as it is raining at the moment. The show was at the Pontiac on the happening South Street – which is home to the famed Jim’s Steak where I indulged in their famous cheesesteak’s and enjoyed the various autographs on the wall. Ben suggested that we start sending places our autographed press photo thanking them for their services. “Great steaks”, “Yummy Texas Hots”, “Thanks for the haircut”. I thought it was a good idea. On our drive in to the city, we saw Independence Hall and the thing where they keep the Liberty Bell… I’m still unsure after all my years of schooling of what exactly the Liberty Bell was for… maybe I just wasn’t paying attention. And why didn’t they replace it after it was cracked if it was so special? I guess it’s too late for me to figure it out on my own.

I can smell the autumn air just around the corner. Even thought the leaves haven’t completely changed, and the air hasn’t really cooled that much, I can feel it coming. I’ve already changed my computer desktop background to that colorful fall picture that’s included with most Windows XP PCs. We’re going to Philadelphia tomorrow and then hitting a brief stint in the New England area once again. I’m hoping I get to see Salem near Halloween time – maybe when we play in Gloucester. Even though fall leads to the cold winter, there’s something about being outside and smelling the air and drinking apple cider that warms my heart – it’s also my birthday month. Libras rejoice!

On our second full day in Myrtle Beach we got up early to hit the waves with our brand new eight dollar body boards. The wind and waves were vicious this day my friends and the sea defeated me. I have a few scrapes on my belly from the current dragging me on shore without my body board. Anyway, we just ate at a touristy all you can eat calabash sea food buffet called Benjamin’s. I had crab legs for the first time… boy that’s a lot of sloppy work in order to get to that precious meat. Luckily we ate early so we can relax and maybe take a nap to burn away the meal. This R&R is desperately needed.

Well I bought that new Neil Gaiman book (mentioned below) called ANANSI BOYS and guess what? He had a reading in Washington DC at the National Book Festival the same day that we had a show in DC... so I saw him speak and I got his autograph and gave him a copy of Touch of Class. Not many know this, but the song DREAMS (the only song I entirely wrote on Touch of Class) is somewhat inspired by Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. It's been weird that I've been talking about this author and reading his stuff lately and then all of a sudden I see him in person... how about that? I have a link to his website on this page under 'current favorite websites'. Check it out! Anyway, we've had one hell of a week which I'll talk about later -- I don't want to ruin my calming time in Myrtle Beach at the moment.

Wednesday, September 21, 2005

We spent the day in Columbus at the Easton Mall which was the grandest mall I've ever been I think. It was like entering Disney World for the shopper. It seemed to have its own little town with outside shops with a fancy red brick walkway and a fountain in the center. But this mall also had the most a ginormous inside section with all your standard mall stores! I can't believe I didn't spend any money there (though I desperately wanted to buy the newest Neil Gaiman book in the two storied Barnes and Nobles). To make things even mgrandande, the mall provided free wireless Internet which seemed to extend for miles phew. Okay, I'll stop talking about the mall for now.

I'm not sure if putting all my journal entries at once is confusing to anyone... someone write to me and let me know what you think: skippy@navar.net
Here's my next batch.

Columbus Ohio we are back! I just took a walk down the street and saw that Swearing at Motorists is playing at a nearby club on Friday night. I saw them once in Buffalo at the Mohawk place and I still talk about them to this day… Flying Pizza is one of the best songs ever made. Anyway, today is the first day of the Navar’s spending freeze of sorts. We have decided not to spend any money on fast food or convenient stores from now on. It’s expensive and the food is innutritious and leaves you feeling groggy – not what we need these days and nights. It’s not that we have become health nuts either because I see a lot of hotdogs and canned hams in our future… at least we’ll be getting the protein we need. Our show is at Little Brothers tonight – I’ll let you know how it goes.

Baltimore, MD -> New York, NY -> Shinglehouse, PA. The proximity of these locations doesn’t seem to make sense for a band to play three shows in three consecutive nights… but we did it (or we’re close to doing it). We’re coming close to Shinglehouse as I write. We traveled out of NYC about 4am last night and still had to pick up the trailer in New Jersey. We parked at a rest stop to sleep at about 6am this morning. Where am I going with all this? I guess I just wanted to mention that even though it is tiresome to do what we do, it is an exciting business. With a little luck we’ll play to an animated and fun crowd tonight (how could Shinglehouse bring us any less?) – and that makes all this worth it somehow. I’m sorry if this post was boring, but I guess I got to write this stuff every so often just to keep me going. Thanks for listening.

Friday, September 16, 2005

Yesterday’s show at the Mojo Lounge in Baltimore went well. We played a short set before a battle of the bands and I think crowd responded well. I think they must have strict loitering laws in Maryland because we were kicked out of three parking lots that we had our tour bus (RV) parked in – probably by disgruntle security guards who had nothing better to do with their lives.

While we were parked at one (of a few) mall(s) I spent a good amount of time in a Barnes and Nobles. I purchased Marvel’s 1602 – which was written by Neil Gaiman (the best comic writer of all times). It’s about the classic Marvel Super Heroes placed in Elizabethan era England. The artwork is amazing as well I definitely recommend it… especially for those fanboys turned adult somewhere along the line. I just haven’t read comic books in a long time and reading this graphic novel felt like when I was 13 just getting back from the comic store with a stack of books and spending the weekend reading. Ah the good ole times.

We’re now leaving Cleveland and heading to Columbus again. They didn’t have any White Castles in Cleveland so I’m looking forward to this trip. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was something to behold. The building itself was designed by the architect I.M Pe who also design the addition to the National Art museum and the pyramid addition outside the Louvre in France (just a little knowledge that I consistently annoyed my band members with). It was beautiful to say the least. The displays and films were very inspirational and I actually got choked up once or twice. Some people’s lives are changed by rock and roll. Anyway, I wish I was able to take pictures in the museum, but it was strictly forbidden. I did manage to snap a picture of the Pink Floyd the Wall exhibit with my cell phone. It wasn’t long before a security guard reminded me that I couldn’t take pictures. I'll post that picture next time.

Monday, September 05, 2005

Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks! We’re on the road to Cleveland right now… I definitely think I’ll be getting some of those tasty White Castles… mmm. Since we don’t have a show tomorrow, I think we’ll be heading to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration on how to be a cool rock and roll superstar rockstar.

Saturday, September 03, 2005

Well the Barbary turned out to be quite good (yes we were scheduled to play and it was a great venue). We got the crowd quite riled, and the energy of the group felt great – better than it had been in several days.

Now we’re in the middle of a string of shows that are quite distant from each other – Columbus -> Rochester -> Brooklyn. The night before the Columbus show we hung out at Club 202 and I put on some major dance moves… better than Napoleon I think. The day of our show, I ate eight White Castle cheeseburgers which caused a major depression due to withdrawal symptoms the next day. Luckily we’re going to Cleveland soon… I need more.

Friday, August 26, 2005

We played once again in NYC last night… I think it was our third time in Arlene’s Grocery. I think very highly of that club – it has a good stage and sound. After the show, I had a delicious hot dog from a vender on the street… it hit the spot after a sweaty set. On our way back into New Jersey (where we parked the trailer for the night), we had to take a detour to the GW bridge since they don’t allow campers with propane through the tunnels. That added like an hour to our trip… sucked. Tim drove and I slept, so it wasn’t actually that bad.

Anyway, I’m sitting in front of the Barbary in Philadelphia right now. It’s nearing 8:00pm and the place still hasn’t opened. I have a feeling in my stomach that it closed down recently and they never felt like contacting the bands that were booked. We’ll see what happens.

Sunday, August 21, 2005

We're back in the home town briefly. We had a hectic two days trying to get to our shows. We were late coming into New Jersey on Thursday night and then blew a tire to the trailer as we came into New Brunswick. We played a great show and had a good response though. We stayed in the parking lot of Sears and got the tire fixed first thing in the morning and hauled ass to Olean.
It was truly great being back home and being welcomed by our regular (and new regulars) fans. You all know who you are. It was great talking to you guys after the show.

We spend part of the day in Salem Massachusetts. Home of many witches… and possibly warlocks. I didn’t really learn much about the history of Salem, but I did get to shop in many of their stores. In most of Salem’s stores, you buy such things as tarot cards, magical stones and other weird witchy type stuff. I ended up buying a pair of sunglasses for $3 that glow in the dark. It was a good find and a great deal. Unfortunately I found another pair of sunglasses in a different store that made me feel like a superhero when I put them on. I had to get them as well. I’m seriously considering changing my whole wardrobe and color scheme to match my sunglasses. I hope I make that happen.

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Just so everyone knows, I don’t write these blogs and then post them when it’s finished. Since Internet is limited on the road, I have to write up something in a separate document and then post them later on the net. To make things a little more clear for you guys, I’ll starting posting the date that I actually write the entry (the blog date will show when I uploaded it. The most recent entries will always be on top). Got it? Cool.

Anyway, the drink of choice so far in New England has been Harpoon … It’s an IPA that I’ve never heard of until we got here (IPA is Indian Pale Ale I believe). It’s everywhere.

Let me tell you a few things about Gloucester Massachusetts. I think it’s the home of the nicest people in the world. When we met the owner, Fred, of the Rhumb Line, I was amazed by his hospitality. He wasn’t able to stay long and hang out with us, but Jeff took us under his wing at that point. We went to a whale watch on Captain Mark’s ship and later went out with Mark and his wife Caroline to see a Reggae band at the Bad Fish. Happy Anniversary Mark and Caroline! These people… Gloucester people… great people. Cars even stop and let you cross the street when there’s not even a crosswalk!

Friday, August 12, 2005

We’re just entering Portland, Maine right now. I just finished my first ever whole lobster. It was pretty good I think. Some of it kind of grossed me out, but I still enjoyed myself. I think you can drench anything in butter and it’ll taste good.

Friday, August 12, 2005

We just finished a show in Plymouth, Massachusetts – home of that world famous rock. We really didn’t have time to go out see that Pilgrim landing point, but I’ve heard it’s really nothing special. I think we might actually try to drive to Portland, Maine tonight – maybe stay in a Walmart parking lot or something. I think I might be developing a cold. I’ve been trying very hard to take my vitamins, but some bug must’ve slipped by. Since this tour started, I’ve had the biggest trouble taking off my shirt because they just seem to stick to me… it has been warm and muggy let me tell ya.

Monday, August 08, 2005

I’m writing this from a campground in eastern Massachusetts called Wompatuck State Park. Get out your atlas and look it up kids. Put the push pin marker in the wall map if you’re keeping track. The last time I camped anywhere was when I was about 11 years old with a bunch of friends in the back yard of my best friend’s house. We started imaging murderers slicing up kids camping in tents in back yards – I ended up sleeping inside out of terror.

I’m beginning to notice strange accents in people as we travel far away from home. I’m also beginning to wonder what most people are thinking when they see four twenty something guys traveling cross country together. If anyone asks I’m just going to say we’re traveling trapeze artists from a circus that abandoned us after years of service. Two of us are separated Siamese twins. Can you guess which two?

Last night we spend the day in Cambridge promoting the show for today. I've always heard that it's a nice little college town... I guess there's some school called Harvard and MIT around here somewhere. We ended up going to the venue to see that bands and the scene and everything. There were people wearing shirts of the bands that I like -- Ween, Mogwai, etc... which you don't see too often. At least not in Belmont. The high point of the night in my opinion was a band called Grand Buffet. It's kind of hard to describe them -- they're a white satanic hip-hop group from Pittsburgh... okay I don't know if they're satanic or not, but their performance is hilarious.

Saturday, August 06, 2005

wow... two posts in one day. Well actually it's after midnight, so it's not technically the same day. I'm sitting in the navarmobile outside the Continental in NYC. We played a great set, but the 45 minutes just seemed very short.
I did go to Katz deli and had a pastrami on rye which was very delicious... but now my tummy hurts. It might be unrelated. I think I'm going to lie down for awhile while the boys mingle with friends. Goodnight friends.

I'm sitting at the corner of 3rd ave. and St. Marks in NYC at the moment. So far we're 2 for 2 finding parking spots near our venue in this fine city. I can't believe our luck. I just looked up Katz deli and see that it's not too far away -- this is the world famous deli that became even more world famous in the movie When Harry Met Sally (you know... the fake orgasm scene?). Maybe I'll recreate that scene when I get there... maybe not.

Thursday, August 04, 2005

First day of the first official tour is here! Thanks John and Tara (sp?) for the pizza and taking us to the band bash in Hartford... good times. We're about to take off again so I'll be losing my wireless connection. Maybe I'll write back after the show tonight.

Thursday, July 28, 2005

Oh lord it's getting close. Tomorrow is my last day of work before the tour. The air is thick and humid and the AC doesn't seem to be working as well as it had been in the past couple of weeks. It's making me groggy. I'm trying to get the loose ends tied, but more untying seems to be happening. Sometimes when I'm in this situation I'll write a to-do list... that never seems to work out. It feels like this is the last week of rehearsal before opening day of a musical -- nothing seems ready, but I feel confident that by the time the curtain goes up, everything will have come together along with a few pleasant surprises.

The four of us were in the Olean Times Herald on Monday. I've decided that I look too cocky in the photograph... and I'm worried that people will hate me for it. It was a great write up though.

Thursday, July 21, 2005

Once we get on the road, I'm sure you're going to see a lot more of these entries. Not too many causing you to lose interest, but just enough to cause you to want more. I bought a long sleeve shirt at Penny's that says 'Rock and Roll Wagon... get your groove on'. The groove will be getting. I'm leaving on a jet plane... don't know when I'll be back again.

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

I just ate a whole bag of popcorn about an hour ago... I feel rather bloated now. Anyway, I'm considering reading Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard. Okay not really, but I found it in my house... I guess I just can't get myself to read a self-help book that's more than 500 pages. But I need self-help... that's for damn sure. I think I'm just going to read an Incredible Hulk graphic novel that I have lying around. Heh Heh. That's all I got right now... tired.

Wednesday, May 18, 2005

Once again, I'm sorry that it's been so long since my last entry. It's hard for me to be ambitious and confident enough in the silly things I have to say.

Anyway, I just got back from viewing a Salvador Dali exhibition in Philadelphia. I have to say that I was quite amazed by what this man could do. His talent and ambition was very inspiring. Not only was he an extremely talented artist, but he used his art to make something personal and imaginative. He was also very prolific -- the 200 works that I saw wasn't close to everything he had done... he must have been working constantly. That's something.

Well I've mentioned this little film before, but I've never posted it. I think it's a little surreal in itself, so it's kind of appropriate with the theme of this post. This little movie is called The River starring Brian Westman. I made this for my final photography project in college. enjoy.

It seems that all my dreams lately are recurring. Last night I had three dreams and they were all ones that I've had before.

Aliens were flying around the cow pasture in the back of my house. One ship looked like the planet Saturn -- they wanted to abduct me. It was the first day of baseball practice in high school... and I was so clumsy that I didn't make the cut. I opened the door to my microwave and it was still running. I panicked because of the radiation and dove through a window.

What is it about aliens, microwaves, and baseball that keep haunting me?

Thursday, March 03, 2005

I have got to get this down before I forget. Just before I woke up this morning (about 20 minutes ago), I dreampt that Daryl Hall from Hall and Oates wanted to record at our house. He only had one request though... that he could wear my Columbia winter coat that I bought for $30 a couple months ago...

... then I woke up.

Friday, February 11, 2005

Potter County here we come! My favorite shirt... my favorite county. You can bet your sweet butt that I'll be wearing it. Maybe there'll be shops where I can find a replacement (god forbid). The fibers aint as strong as they used to be either.

Anyway, I have about a half hour more of the work day left, and I'm the only one here. If there are any loyal listener (readers) out there that want to tell me about their boring day... feel free to email me: skippy@navar.net

show tonight

Thursday, January 20, 2005

Thought of the day:

Maybe I should keep an awake journal while I'm dreaming. It's weird how you forget about your awakes soon after you start dreaming. It's like your brain is intentially trying to keep things from you. Has anyone ever thought that dreams are the actual reality? Have you ever thought that reality is the actual reality? I bet not because you assume too much. Which one is it? Think about it.

Anyway, I've been reading a book by Jonathan Lethem called Men and Cartoons. It's your standard bunch of short stories... but it's wonderful.

Thursday, December 16, 2004

Hello folks. I don't have too much to say here, but I was compelled to say something. The winter months have made me tired and weary once again... as if all the energy that the sun provided is slowly gettin the heck out of here. On a brighter note, a box of Krispy Kreme donuts were just delivered to my desk at work. I bought it from a high school kid doing a fund raiser about a month ago. It was a nice surprise. I can't wait to eat em... hmmm. Anyway, Happy Holidays and all that garbage. I have a feeling that I'm slowly becoming a scrooge or a grinch... maybe when I'm old and green, I'll try to steel Christmas and be visited by spirits. Just remember this, Christmas spirit is not what you drink.

Tuesday, November 23, 2004

Ah Thanksgiving is upon us. Let's all give thanks to all those Native Americans and Puritans that gave their lives so we could eat turkey and cranberry sauce -- and allow us to have a special day to shop at discount which convert store finances from red to black.

Anyway, I have updated this personal page so you can now see all my previous posts... ah memories.

By the way, the above picture was made by NAVAR fan and friend Sara. I have it framed on my desk at work (along side my Incredible Hulk, Masters of the Universe Man at Arms, and Pokey Reese bobble head (in a Pirates jersey)).

Mood Log
Nov 3rd, 2004
Mood index: 'great' 'good' 'okay' 'bad' 'horrible'

Today's mood:
bad

Noticeable Reasons:
Not that I can think of. I got about 7 hours sleep which is normal. I've had my caffein fix for the day, ate a decent breakfast, and haven't had any negative or hurtful personal encounters.

Moon Phase:

Other Possible Reasons:
The fact that the beauty of Fall is gone and the dying trees just remind me of the impending harshness of Winter. Or maybe the knowledge that this country will be run by republicans for at least the next two years.

Thursday, October 28, 2004

So my birthday was a few weeks ago. 25 years -- 1/4 century -- I can now be a Senator. I guess I feel this is the first birthday where I really consider myself an adult. I have a full-time job, no longer live with my mom, and worry about my prostate (it's not my colon, but it's pretty close).

Yesterday we had a lunar eclypse. At it's peak, it looked like a small hazy different version of our moon... kind of like a moon you would expect to see from a different planet. It was weird. I also have a lunar calendar on the desktop of my computer. I've been trying to correlate if the phases of the moon have an effect my emotions. I seem to cry everytime a full moon gets close. The other night a van drove by me and someone mooned the car ahead of me... maybe that's why I cried.

(reposted from the forum)
I just saw this video for the first time in like seven years last week. This is the first movie making experience I ever had with a group of my friends in high school. It seems sooo bad, but that may have been the point (seems like the point of all the movies I have made). Anyway, my friend Sean Histed (star of Titanic Revisited) called me out of the blue one fall weekend (about 7 years ago). He wanted a bunch of us to get together and make a movie called Wife Beaters -- about a band of super hero's. We filmed a bunch of scenes with no script or ideas. We just filmed. A few weeks later we hooked up two VCRs and a CD player (for the soundtrack) and brilliantly edited the movie.

Here is the result. --Part 1 of WifeBeaters--This is a 17MB file (which may be hard for those with dial up) and you'll need Windows Media Player to watch it. You may want to right click on the link and 'save as'. I'll put up the other parts in the next few weeks. I play the character Pure Energy Riot.

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Now it's been awhile since I've added anything to this update. The forum started up and I've been posting and laughing and crying on that. It's amazing that something like that can cause such controversy and emotional outpouring.

Anyway, I just downloaded the trailer to the new Batman movie called. It's getting me excited (gross). Christopher Nolan is the director (he directed Memento) and it's starring Christian Bale (American Psycho) along with Liam Nieson, Michael Cain, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. Sounds like quite a cast.

Speaking of Batman, I'm planning on digging out all my old action hero toys and displaying them proudly on the shelves in my bedroom. It'll include the batcave, the ewok village, castle greyskull, and snake mountain. It's going to be splendid... just splendid.

Monday, August 09, 2004

Well the fans requested it... so here it is! The first of one of my movies. This one is called Titanic Revisited which stars Sean Histed and Tiffany Marsh. I never asked Tiffany's permission to put this on here... so if you don't want this here Tiffany, let me know. I could probably get sued for using the copyrighted music as well I guess. Enjoy!
Click here to view it using Windows Media Player. Post any comments on the Forum. More movies to come!!

Monday, June 28, 2004

And quite the busy weekend we just had. On Saturday we played a mammoth of a show at Six-S (success? I think so).
Anyway, I was on my cell phone outside the bar when a short stout man in a pink tank top walked through the doorway. He glanced at me and said "whoa... looks like everyone's out here."
I looked around... I was the only one there. Did he see more people? Does he know things I don't?
Well later in the evening, the same stout man happened to be sitting at the bar across from me. His wisdom poured out like wine and I knew that he existed on a different level from us lowly humans. I was deeply intrigued by his insight and philosophy of human nature. Out of nowhere he produce a bottle of clear liquid. He told me to drink. I assumed this was some sort of potion that would give me the same powers this god amongst men had... so I drank. Horrible. Never again will I be so stupid... never again.

Here's a new desktop wallpaper for you all to enjoy. That's one handsome devil. Click Here.

Just right click on the picture and select 'set as background'. You'll be all set. It'll be like I'm watching you at all times.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004

I was just thinking to myself that I haven't seen any new really great movies lately. Like the sort of movie that really sticks in your head and you enjoy watching after the 100th time. I would say the last really good movie I saw in the theater was Lost in Translation... and that was like six months ago. So saying that, I am going to list the five greatest movies of all time in no particular order. This is just my opinion and just my opinion at this very moment. I would probably argue with myself on my choices in a week... so here's some great movies... my opinion... at this moment. Ok. Here we go!!! The Fisher King, The Royal Tenenbaums, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Wild Strawberries, and The Music of Chance. Go out and buy them or rent them or whatever. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll thank me.

By the way, I just read the short story "Guts" by Chuck Paluhniuk... pretty gross.

I'm ready to go buck wild in this picture. Life don't get much better than this... with style pretty... with style. Everyone met at my house before our trip to Hartford. First thing was first and Jeff went poop. Situation normal. Life is good. In the past 10 days, I've seen 5am five times. Now it's memorial day and City Slickers is on for the second time in two days. Just picture Billy Crystal saying 'hellloo' to Curly and you'll know where I am. Let's just pray that the City Slickers trilogy will be complete by decade's end. See ya'll there.

A lot of people have been asking me how life has been going. Let me just say this: dreams change, but friends are forever (a little lesson from Britney’s best movie – Crossroads). An auto mechanic once told me to go to Buffalo to get a part for my ’87 Honda Accord. I told him that no one sends me anywhere. Fate is my only master. Destiny signs my checks and god is my DJ. He was stoked about what he heard.
So I recently saw the last episode of Freaks and Geeks again. Lindsay’s guidance counselor suggested that she listen to the Grateful Dead’s American Beauty to gain a new perspective on the life changes she was going through… I cried.
I added a few more to my current musical tastes. There’s nothing better than current musical tastes or a book on tape for that long drive with nothing to think about.

I know this may not be that exciting news to all of you, but I've got extra special news. Along with the debut of our new CD, I have become an owner of a brand new guitar – a Voodoo Les Paul… yes! It was such an exciting time when I brought her home for the first time. I named her Prudence Paul. I was worried that she would fight with my other guitar, but they’ve been getting along just smashingly. I’ll post some pictures of me and Prudence shortly. Y’all come back now.

… dammit I’m stupid

so yesterday I was walking down the street and I approached a crossroads. Standing in the center was a tall man dressed in a black cloak. I was hesitant at first, but I finally asked him his name. His eyes became ablaze and he spoke in a low croaky voice...
“You can call me Scrambled… Scrambled Eggs.”
“Now that’s the strangest name I’ve ever heard mister. You must be from the west” I said. He then pulled a baseball bat out from inside his cloak and handed it to me.
“I’ll teach you how to use this if you give me one simple thing. And it’s just a simple thing of little importance to you, but of substantial importance to me” said Scrambled.
“Sorry mister” I said. “But I cannot give you my soul if that’s what you’re looking for. Because I consider you my friend and friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies. So as you see, you already own a part of me.”
With that being said, he smiled and handed me the bat. “Run along son, you know much more than you think you know.”
I took the bat and ran home as fast as I could.

The cold winter months are upon us. A wise man once said "Winter is nature's way of saying, 'up yours'". So why do we live up north? Let me tell you a little secret... it's the maple syrup.
Anyway, I went to Austin Texas for Christmas vacation and experienced the many things that the lone star state had to offer -- bbq, vintage clothes shops, the Alamo. So here's a picture of me celebrating the greatness. What was a defeat at the Alamo was a victory in the hearts of the young.

Happy New Year!! And quite a new year it's going to be. I think about how stupid I was a year ago and realize how things have changed... ok I'm just as stupid now... so nothing's changed! Anyway, my New Year resolution is to eat only out of bowls (plates are useless in my book). I'm also going to try and watch every movie starring Frank Stallone (Sylvester's brother). How many could there be? I think I'll start with the Roller Blade Seven series.

First off, the above picture is my family in Washington DC celebrating my sister-in-law's Fellowship of Actuaries (she does smart math-like things). I'm the smiley guy with the jewel studded sunglasses if ya didn't know. It was good times had by all -- I made a toast in which I declared the dinner a success later in the evening.
Anyway, I recently purchased a new digital video camera and I'm planning on documenting our entire recording experience with Chameleon West studios. I'm also planning on directing and editing a few short films (possibly with acclaimed writer and bassist Ben Barry). A prequel and a sequel to Robot Fantasy might also be in the works -- Robot Fantastic and Dismal Robot Fantasy. Soon I'll post some clips or screen shots of my films and information on how to get yourself a copy. If you're interested in hearing more about my twisted films, write an email to skippy@navar.net.

Well this is my first entry in my little Navar journal. I'll mostly talk about non-band related stuff here since the whole site is dedicated to the band. First off, I hope you enjoy the picture of me in green above... if you can figure out what musical that's from, write me an email (skippy@navar.net) and I'll send you a prize or something. Hopefully I'll be able to get a weekly entry in here and include some anecdotes that you'll all enjoy. Crazy times are coming up and I hope you're all prepared for Skippy's (aka me... oh dear) wild roller coaster ride. Have the good one.
